A Recent Project Spotlight – Mike Wilsmore Physiotherapy
As a leading Commercial Contractor and Electrician in Plymouth, we were very proud to have been part of the fit-out, at the new premises of Mike Wilsmore Physiotherapy in Plympton, Plymouth. Our experienced team at JAH Electrical Services installed the electrical fit-out, including the power supply, commercial lighting and the fire alarm.
When the Web Design and SEO Company we use, asked Mike about his experience of working with our team at JAH Electrical Services, he replied “I was very pleased with the service received, and the work carried out. They were very helpful when there were changes we wanted to make, and they answered all of our questions. I would happily recommend them to anyone.”
Mike and Kate are both Chartered Physiotherapists, specialising in sports rehabilitation, acupuncture and sports massage. We are certain that this physiotherapy business will thrive in these new premises, and would like to send them our best wishes for the future.

Landlord EICR’s and Electrical Maintenance – Students Inbound!
The time of year is fast approaching, where the new students will be arriving for their University places and looking for accommodation, with suitcases in hand.
If you are a Landlord and rent out your property, you will know that in accordance with current legislation, you are legally obliged to have a satisfactory EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report) in place, ensuring that the installation meets British standards. An EICR should be carried out on your property every five years and each time you take on a new tenant. Your responsibility under the Landlords and Tenants Act 1985 is to ensure that all of the electrics and associated electrical equipment in your property are safe, prior to renting out.
Whether you have a single property or a whole portfolio of properties to let, we can carry out inspections in a professional, timely and undisruptive manner. As NICEIC approved contractors, we are authorised to issue EICRs and to undertake any remedial work. We can also provide PAT testing services.
Electrician in Plymouth – Serving Homeowners and Businesses
Did you know that we offer a number of electrical testing and inspection services to homeowners in Plymouth and the surrounding areas, from fire alarm inspections (for wired alarms) and PAT testing, to full electrical inspections?
An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) is sometimes also referred to as a home buyers survey, and entails the comprehensive inspection of the electrical installation in a property. Homeowners should have an EICR carried out at least once every ten years, to ensure that their electrical installation is working safely. JAH will check the condition of your switches, sockets, light fitting, and fuse box / consumer unit as part of this inspection. You will also require an EICR if you choose to sell your property.
Businesses also have a legal responsibility to be compliant with legislation and meet their duty of care requirements for employees and customers. You might have a factory, a small shop, a restaurant, a chain of rental properties or offices – we can carry out all manner of electrical safety checks and inspections to help prevent electrical accidents in the workplace.
If there is a circuit overload, any defective or improperly performed work, earthing or bonding issues or the risk of fire, accident or electric shocks as the result of a fault – the inspection will identify these. JAH Electrical Services can quote on any work required, and provide a full service, with customer satisfaction guaranteed.
Red Warnings – Danger!
With continued use and age, electrical wiring deteriorates and therefore should undergo regular electrical testing. All electrical installations should be inspected on a regular basis, both for safety and to check that wiring is functioning properly.
You should never ignore any danger signs! You should always contact a qualified electrician immediately, if you spot a potential issue. Attempting to fix it yourself can be extremely dangerous, causing risk to lives and property.
Look out for:
- Exposed wires or loose plug sockets.
- Black/brown stains on your sockets.
- A burning smell – a sign of electric fire.
- Flickering lights.
- Electric shocks.
Faulty equipment can result in higher electricity bills. These days, none of us can afford to add to the burden of high energy costs. Being safe helps to avoid potential damage to irreplaceable items that could be destroyed by fire. In addition to this, unless regularly tested, some insurance companies might refuse to insure you. As a leading Electrician in Plymouth, you can trust in us to identify the source of any problems, and deliver a first-class service, sorting the issue and leaving you with peace of mind.
